The Me2 Club Committee was formed in 2001 as a response to consultation. Parents of children with special needs were asked to identify the services they needed to improve the quality of their life and that of their child. As a result of this research parents expressed the wishes for their children was to play and join in activities alongside other children. They felt that by encouraging and enabling both children with additional needs and mainstream children to socialise together and to see each other as part of the same community, the project would challenge disadvantage and barriers to inclusion. The aim of the charity is to;
In 2003 the charity was awarded funding from the Community Fund, now the Big Lottery Fund, to run the project. We are now funded through a variety of grants, and local fundraising. There are 2 full time employees, the Project Coordinator, and the Assistant Coordinator who run the project on a day to day basis. The Me2 Club charity committee is made up, of parents that have children with additional needs, volunteers on the project and other local people interested in furthering the work and aims of the charity. Committee Members The Charity welcomes new members and is keen to hear from anyone that is interested in making a financial donation or contribution to the project.
